Jill Turgeon

Jill was first elected to public office as a Representative on the Loudoun County School Board in 2011, followed by a successful re-election bid in 2015 where she served through 2019. She served as the Vice-Chair and chaired the Curriculum and Instruction Committee for four consecutive years.

A former educator, she is a strong advocate for educational choice, and has been engaged in a number of educational initiatives both locally as well as at the state level. She was instrumental in bringing forth Loudoun’s first charter school, has served on the founding board of a local private school, and was invited by the VA Secretary of Education to participate in the development of an education reform bill, which was later signed into law.

She is a member of the American Enterprise Institute’s Leadership Network (Spring 2016 cohort) and is actively engaged in a variety of political and civic activities within her community.  Jill is passionate about spreading the word about the benefits of a free market society, and is a self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur”.  She has run a successful photography business for nearly a decade, co-founded a micro-school focused on services for homeschool students, and co-founded a children's lifestyle accessory line with her daughter. From January 2019 to August 2023, Jill worked as a Governance Coordinator with Athlos Academies where she worked with charter schools.  She was responsible for policy development and board training, as well as keeping the schools in compliance with state and federal regulations. Jill now runs a consulting business part-time, working with educational organization on governance, compliance, and policy development.

In her spare time, Jill loves to travel, explore the historic regions in and around Washington DC, make frequent visits to the National Gallery of Art, and exploring the outdoors through hiking and camping.

Jill is a native of Southern California, but currently resides in Northern Virginia where she settled over 20 years ago with her late husband who passed away in the fall of 2019.  She has three grown children, two sons-in-law, three grandsons, and two granddaughters. In May of 2022, Jill married Eric Turrill, a well-loved and respected educator in the area, and gained two wonderful step-sons.
