Looking to take a seat as Chair of the Board...

Updated: May 4, 2018

Since the fall of 2017, I have been seriously considering the idea of throwing my hat into the ring to become the next Chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. It was not until this month, however, that I decided to go ahead and make that decision final. This was not an easy decision, since I have really loved my work with the schools and truly enjoy working with my colleagues on the school board (a seat I have held for over 6 years), as well as the Loudoun County Public Schools staff. Don't be mistaken...I still have a LOT more to do in my (almost) two years left on the school board and will not in any way diminish my efforts there. My full attention is still on doing everything I can for my constituents in the Blue Ridge District as their school board representative.

My one fear in making this move is that people will think I am jumping from one office to another simply for the reason of remaining in politics. This is simply not the case. The truth is, I love to serve. Period. I love working with constituents and finding was to best make their voices heard, because put very simply, I am not in this office (nor will I be in the future), to serve my OWN needs. I am here to serve as a voice for others. Could I find ways to serve my community outside of elected office? Of course. I served my community well before I was ever an elected official, and will continue to do so well after my days in public office. But I was asked (and have been asked for some time now) by many to be the one to step up and take on this role. And so, here I am.

Politics can be tough...but I am ready. Thank you to all who have shown your support thus far:)
